1907 Smith and Nixon Brown Mahogany Art Case Grand Piano
For your consideration we offer this 1907 Smith and Nixon 6’2” grand piano, with our silver and black interior treatment.
The exterior has been refinished in a new, closed pore rubbed satin brown mahogany finish, with beautiful nickel plated hardware throughout the instrument.
Smith and Nixon modeled this particular piano after the Steinway and Sons Model A2, with the interior scale design featuring modern duplex scaling throughout, and a smooth bass transition with bichord stringing in the low tenor.
We installed a brand new Alaskan Sitka spruce soundboard with all new bridge caps, and a new Bolduc lumber core pinblock. For the Wessell, Nickel and Gross original action we installed all new dimensionally correct Tokiwa action components, and custom made German Abel hammers, as well as complete keyset refurbishing, including all new Kawai off-white keytops, and new backchecks.
We’ve included some images taken during the restoration process.
This piano plays like new, and the new soundboard is full with great tonal projection.
To complete this amazing piano, and new PianoDisc Prodigy player piano system has been installed so that everyone in the family may enjoy the amazing tone produced by this rare and one of a kind piano.
