1918 Steinway and Sons Model A3 “Silver and Black” Edition
For your consideration we present this gorgeous 1918 Steinway rare long scale 6’4″ Model A3 in “Silver and Black” color edition.
This piano, now ready for viewing, features a new dimensionally correct solid spruce soundboard with all new bridge caps, a new Bolduc lumber core pinblock, all new Steinway factory action parts along with all new Steinway factory German hammers!
The original keyset with excellent condition ebony and ivory keytops has been thoroughly restored, and the touchweight is light and responsive…ready for the most demanding client. The entire pedal and trapwork system has been restored, and the piano is voiced and regulated for concert service.
The exterior finish features window pane legs and lyre, and has been redone in a new, closed pore, ebony rubbed satin finish with nickel plated hardware throughout.
To cap off this incredible restoration, a Wayne Stanhke LX2 Live Performance Reproducing Player system (circa 2008) has been installed, featuring full 88 note capability, and both proportional sustain and soft shift pedaling.
As rare as the piano itself, the LX system was the predecessor to the amazing Steinway SPIRIO player piano system, and is no longer in production, but is sought after for the ultimate in playback capability.
This rare piano, produced for only a few years in the American factory in this length is a prime example of excellent Steinway engineering!
Following the pictures that were taken during the restoration process are several completed pictures of this amazing piano.
